We have several ongoing projects that focus on secondary analyses of data from large-scale assessments such as the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), and the OECD Survey on Social and Emotional Skills (SSEL). Our goal is to leverage on the power of these large-scale assessments to gain a deeper understanding of the different factors that facilitate/thwart students’ motivation, well-being, and socio-emotional learning.
We are currently engaged in a research project commissioned by UNICEF to help establish a conceptual framework and measurement tools for socio-emotional skills in Southeast Asia. This project is part of the Southeast Asia Primary Learning Metrics (SEA-PLM) and is funded by UNICEF Philippines.
We have an ongoing project that aims to understand how the university teaching and learning environment shapes the student learning experience and the achievement of critical socio-emotional and cognitive outcomes. This project is funded by the Teaching Development and Language Enhancement Grant from the University Grants Committee, Hong Kong.
This is a recently completed project focusing on the development of an intervention program to help at-risk children and children-in-conflict with the law to develop different social and emotional skills. This project was funded by UNICEF Philippines, in close partnership with the Department of Education and the Department of Social Welfare and Development of the Philippine Government.
